Limited Edition LEVI’S® Vintage 501®XX 1937 Big E Redline Selvage Raw Denim Dry Goods Jean

Up for sale is offered a pair of limited-edition LEVI’S® Lot 501®XX 1937 replica raw unwashed 10 oz denim DRY GOODS jeans made by LEVI’S VINTAGE CLOTHING.

The 1937 501® jeans were the first model to have concealed or “covered” rivets on the back pockets. They were introduced due to consumer demand as previously used exposed back pocket rivets scratched furniture and saddles. The new LEVI’S® big E red Tab was first sewn onto the right back pocket the year before, in 1936, in order to identify LEVI’S® jeans from other brands. The suspender buttons were removed from the 1937 model but the cinch remained in place. The jeans also featured belt loops, a button fly and a real leather Two Horse® patch.

The Arcuate® design on this pair’s rear pockets is hand-stitched as was the practice in 1937 — Levi’s started using double-needle sewing machines only after the World War II on the 1947 model.

The jeans are brand new with all tags. With the purchase we are enclosing a special unbleached cotton LEVI’S VINTAGE CLOTHING-branded tote bag and hard-cover 501®: The Evolution of the Jean 32-pages book bound in the same untreated off-white cotton. The book comes in a separate drawstring LVC cotton bag and contains the history of the 501® jeans as well as high-quality glossy prints and descriptions of all models from 1890 until the present day.

Features: 10oz Red Selvage right-hand twill denim, 2 rear pockets with hidden rivets, bar tacking in grey and single-needle stitched Arcuate design, capital E red tab, Two Horse leather patch, crotch rivet, no V-stitich near the top button (unsigned on the back), watch pocket with rivets and redline selvage on the inside of the top edge, single-felled inseam in yellow, zinc button fly.

Size (as shown on the label): W30″ x L34″ (actual size W34″ x L32″). The actual measurements are as follows: Waist measures 15 inches/38 cm across, inseam 34 inches/86 cm, U or rise measurement (from front top of the waistband going under the crotch then to the back top of the waistband) 28 inches/71 cm, front crochet (from top of the jean to the crotch – point of intersection of the two legs of the jean) 12 inches/30.5 cm, outseam 45 inches/114 cm, hem width 9 inches/23 cm.

The jean is shrink-to-fit, which means that after washing it will shrink 1+ inches in the waist/seat and 1 1/2+ inches in the length.
