Limited Edition LEVI'S® Vintage 501®XX 1937 Big E Redline Selvage "Claiming Turf" Jean

The 1937 501® jeans were the first model to have concealed or "covered" rivets on the back pockets. They were introduced due to consumer demand as previously used exposed back pocket rivets scratched furniture and saddles. The new Levi's® big E red Tab was first sewn onto the right back pocket the year before, in 1936, in order to identify Levi's jeans from other brands. The suspender buttons were removed from the 1937 model but the cinch remained in place. The jeans also featured belt loops, a button fly and a real leather Two Horse® patch.

This pair is a limited edition (numbered 570 out of 917 ever produced) Claiming Turf customised jean featuring deliberate fabric distressing and staining as well as large knee patches sewn inside the front of the legs. The jean is a looser-fitting low-slung cut and made from the softest worn-out mid-shaded indigo narrow selvage denim.

With this jean we are enclosing a special unbleached cotton LVC tote bag and hard-cover 501®: The Evolution of the Jean 32-pages book bound in the same untreated off-white cotton. The book comes in own drawstring LVC cotton bag and contains the history of the 501® jeans as well as high-quality glossy prints and descriptions of all models from 1890 until the present day.

Features: 12oz Red Selvage right-hand twill denim, 2 rear pockets with hidden rivets and single-needle stitched Arcuate design, capital E red tab, Two Horse leather patch, crotch rivet, no V-stitich near the top button, which is signed C34 on the back, watch pocket with rivets and redline selvage on the inside of the top edge, single-felled inseam in yellow, zinc button fly.

Size (as shown on the label): W36" x L34" (actual size W34" x L32"). The actual measurements are as follows: Waist measures 17 inches/43 cm across (actual waist size is 34 inches), inseam 32 inches/81 cm, U or rise measurement (from front top of the waistband going under the crotch then to the back top of the waistband) 29 inches/74 cm, front crochet (from top of the jean to the crotch - point of intersection of the two legs of the jean) 13 inches/33 cm, outseam 44 inches/111 cm, hem width 9 inches/23 cm. The jean is made of washed denim — it will NOT shrink after washing.
