Levi's Vintage LVC Lot 501XX 1944 Repro Big E Redline Selvedge Valencia Street Factory Made Jean

Very rare jeans from Levi's Vintage Clothing 2000 Collection. The jeans were made in October 2000 at the legendary LEVI'S factory in Valencia Street before it closed down in 2002.

Features: The jeans feature a single-sided Levi's® Capital E pocket tag. Button up fly with "555" stamped on the back of top/waist button, notating that these jeans were made at the Levi's original historic Valencia Street Factory in San Francisco. The jeans have the v-stitch near the top button.

As is characteristic of the 1944 model, the Arcuate designs are painted rather than stitched on the back pockets, which was in line with the WWII US Government's decree, which stipulated that all clothing manufacturers should remove a certain amount of metal, fabric and thread from their garments in order to conserve these important raw materials for the war effort. In response to this, Levi's removed the watch pocket rivets, the crotch rivet and the cinch and its 2 rivets (which effectively eliminated both fabric and metal) from their 1944 jeans.

The front buttons became standard issue during the war as well, and featured a laurel leaf design. Front pockets have unsigned copper rivets. Rear pockets have hidden rivets and bar tacking in yellow. Single-felled inseam in yellow. Outside seam has redline selvage inside (the inside of the top edge of the watch pocket also has redline selvage). Sewed with polycore thread. Silver-lined care label.

Condition: Excellent pre-owned. Bottom hem stitching has come apart.

Actual measurements when laid flat: Waist 16 inches/41 cm across, inseam 33 inches/83 cm, U or rise measurement (from front top of the waistband going under the crotch then to the back top of the waistband) - 27 1/2 inches/70 cm, front crochet (from top of the jean to the crotch - point of intersection of the two legs of the jean) - 12 inches/30.5 cm, outseam - 43 inches/109 cm, bottom leg opening - 8 inches/20 cm.
